Version 1.10 is a big one for the people who build charts, send newsletters, and publish interactive research. Chart creation is simpler and there are new map types. Newsletters can now show you how they performed and who they reached. Social previews are editable right in the editor. And there's early groundwork for publishing to Apple News, though that piece isn't ready to use yet.

What's inside

New chart and map options, a simpler way to add charts, a new spreadsheet block, newsletter performance reporting and audience tools, editable social previews, and a round of fixes to older interactives.

Charts and maps

Building charts is easier this release, and there are new ways to visualize data.

A single "Add Chart" flow. The controller block now uses the same Add Chart window as synced charts and the Chart Library. You get pattern previews, can paste in CSV data, or import from pewplots. Picking a chart type drops the template straight into the editor, so there's no separate variation picker step anymore.
New globe maps. You can now use a World Globe and an orthographic (rotatable) globe map, both with better interaction.
Cleaner labels. Line and stacked area charts can show labels directly on the lines, with automatic decluttering so they don't overlap. Scatter and dot-plot charts got better label placement, leader lines, and text-outline options for readability.
Charts that respond to the screen. Charts now adjust to tablet and phone widths on their own, and U.S. and hex maps tighten up empty space on narrow screens.
Synced charts are now read-only previews in the editor, with their own tools for managing the source chart.

Power Spreadsheet block

Alongside the existing Power Table, there's a new Power Spreadsheet block. It gives you Excel-style tabs for multiple sheets in one block, and the active sheet stays in sync when you move around in the list view.

Newsletters

Newsletter Builder gained real reporting and audience tools this release.

Engagement reporting. See open and click rates for Mailchimp campaigns, refresh them on demand, and sort the Newsletters Library by performance. There's also an Engagement panel in the editor.
Subscriber counts on lists. Newsletter Lists now show how many subscribers they have, both on the list's edit screen and as a column in the list table, updating live as audiences or segments change.
Per-list sender identity. Each newsletter list can set its own default "From" name and email. The campaign sidebar shows a "Sending as" hint so you know who a campaign will send as. This makes it easier to run multiple newsletter brands.
Friendlier newsletter URLs. Newsletters now live at readable web addresses (a page per list, and a page per campaign), and the "View in browser" link in the Mailchimp footer points back to the PRC website version.
System-email audiences. New tools help build recipient lists from activity data for newsletters sent outside Mailchimp, with a durable log of who was sent what.

Smaller newsletter touches:

Email campaigns automatically get the Newsletter format when you publish or save, the same way Short Reads do.
Block editor Notes now work on campaign and transactional emails.
Quick admin links jump straight to the campaign and transactional email patterns in the site editor.
Starting a blank campaign now offers a pattern picker.
The test-send footer in the email preview stays visible on small screens.

When you build social posts, the Twitter, Facebook, Bluesky, and Threads previews are now editable in place. You can adjust the message text directly on the preview using the normal editor typing experience, and the character counter is now a small progress ring like the ones in the native apps.

Apple News (still in development)

This release lays the foundation for publishing PRC content to Apple News: converting posts into Apple News Format, validating them, and an editor sidebar to manage it. It handles more block types now, including callout-style details boxes, and respects left/right alignment (including floated charts).

Apple News is still under active development. It came a long way this release, but it is not ready for public use yet. Treat it as internal and experimental for now.

Fixes to older interactives

Several older interactive features that had broken over time are working again:

Global Opinions of U.S. Surveillance was rebuilt and displays correctly again.
The Global Poverty Reduction interactive's tabs work again.
The opinion-gap expand arrows are fixed.
Older political polarization pages no longer have their layout and typography thrown off.

Research products

Attachments Inspector now lists embedded charts in the attachments report, shown in a sortable table view, and gives you a confirmation toast when you copy a URL, title, or alt text.
Quiz Builder added a group-analytics view to the editor sidebar, and the analytics heatmap now condenses large numbers with a hover tooltip so it stays readable.

Dynamic text and patterns

The way dynamic text (things like staff names, quiz data, typology and Religious Landscape Study values, and dataset fields) gets inserted was reworked to be more reliable in the editor. Most of these now come in as ready-made block patterns grouped by category, instead of as block variations. When you're inserting dynamic content, look for it among the patterns.

The cookie consent banner now supports per-service choices, so visitors can opt in or out of individual services (Meta, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Reddit) rather than all-or-nothing. Analytics settings are also consolidated into a single Analytics settings page.

What content producers should know

Apple News isn't ready yet

The Apple News feature ships in this release but is experimental. Don't use it for anything public-facing until it's officially released.

Dynamic text now comes from patterns

If you previously inserted dynamic bindings as block variations, most of those are now block patterns instead. Existing content still displays fine; just use the patterns when adding new dynamic content.

The old Political Typology quiz is gone

The 2021 Political Typology quiz has been retired in favor of the 2026 version. Use the 2026 quiz going forward.

Because the consent banner is per-service now, double-check that anything depending on visitor consent (tracking pixels, embeds) behaves the way you expect under the new options.
