Guide

Public Post Preview user guide

Share a temporary preview link for unpublished content.

Enable a public preview

  1. Save the post as a draft (or another non-published status). The control is not available on published posts.
  2. In the block editor document settings (or Preview menu on WordPress 6.7+), enable Public preview.
  3. Copy the generated link and share it.

To disable, turn the control off. Publishing or certain status changes also unregister the preview.

Expiration

By default, preview links expire after a site-wide window (PRC default is 45 days when the Reading setting is unset). Admins can change the default under Settings → Reading → Public Post Preview (shown in days, max 90).

Editors can set a per-post expiration (days) override in the preview UI. That writes _ppp_expiration_hours (capped at 90 days). After a link expires, enable preview again (or refresh the control) to copy a new URL.

Find posts with public preview

Post list tables show a public-preview state indicator and a filtered list view for posts that currently have public preview enabled.
