Draft, schedule, and preview front-page layouts as homepage posts.
Create a homepage
- In wp-admin, open Homepages and create a new post (or use Create New Draft from the Latest Homepage block inspector when editing the front-page template).
- Build the layout in the block editor. New drafts seed a default three-column grid with story-item blocks.
- Publish immediately, or schedule a future publish date.
The front page always shows the most recently published homepage post. Scheduling a new version swaps the live front page when that date arrives.
Featured image
Publishing a homepage (or updating a published one) captures a 1200×1200 screenshot of that homepage's own URL and sets it as the featured image. The All Homepages grid uses that image so you can tell layouts apart. Drafts do not get a screenshot until they are published.
Preview another homepage in the editor
When the theme front-page template includes the Latest Homepage block (prc-platform/latest-homepage):
- Select the block.
- Open the inspector controls.
- Use the preview modal to switch the in-editor preview to any existing homepage post.
This changes the editor preview only. It does not change which homepage is live on the site.
Edit the live homepage from the front
Logged-in users with edit access see Edit Homepage in the admin bar on the front page (instead of a generic Edit Page control). That link opens the latest published homepage in the editor.
