This compares with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>45% of those in their 50s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>25% of those in their 30s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10% of those 60 and older<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8% of adults younger than 30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, the share of U.S. adults in the sandwich generation has grown only modestly in recent years, even as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/content\/dam\/Census\/library\/publications\/2020\/demo\/p25-1145.pdf\">people are living longer<\/a> and many young adults are <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/social-trends\/2019\/10\/23\/majority-of-americans-say-parents-are-doing-too-much-for-their-young-adult-children\/\">struggling to gain financial independence<\/a>. When we last measured this in 2021, 23% were in the sandwich generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, a larger share of people in their 50s are sandwiched now than in 2021 (45% vs. 36%). Everyone who took part is a member of the Center\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/the-american-trends-panel\/\">American Trends Panel<\/a>.
