Another 44% say it\u2019s somewhat likely, down from 49%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among men and women and Democrats and Republicans alike, relatively few Americans say it\u2019s highly likely that a woman will be president in their lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, the share of Americans who say it\u2019s <em>extremely or very important to them personally<\/em> that the U.S. elects a woman president is unchanged from 2023, with 18% saying this in each survey. Most (66%) say it\u2019s either not important to them or that the gender of the president doesn\u2019t matter. Everyone who took part is a member of the Center\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/the-american-trends-panel\/\">American Trends Panel<\/a>. Three-in-ten Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents say it\u2019s extremely or very important to them that a woman is elected president in their lifetime.
