These views have changed little since 2022 and 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The public is more confident that all citizens who want to vote this fall will be able to. For this analysis, we surveyed 9,424 adults from July 1 to 7, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyone who took part in this survey is a member of the Center\u2019s American Trends Panel (ATP), a group of people recruited through national, random sampling of residential addresses who have agreed to take surveys regularly. This kind of recruitment gives nearly all U.S. adults a chance of selection. Surveys were conducted either online or by telephone with a live interviewer. The survey is weighted to be representative of the U.S. adult population by gender, race, ethnicity, partisan affiliation, education and other factors.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/our-methods\/u-s-surveys\/the-american-trends-panel\/\">Read more about the ATP\u2019s methodology<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2024\/07\/SR_24.08.01_confidence-in-elections_questionnaire.pdf\">questions used for this analysis<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2024\/07\/SR_24.08.01_confidence-in-elections_topline.pdf\">topline<\/a> and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2024\/07\/SR_24.08.01_confidence-in-elections_methodology.pdf\">survey methodology<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"partisan-differences-in-views-of-the-way-elections-are-conducted\">Partisan differences in views of the way elections are conducted<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between 2020 and 2022, Democrats\u2019 and Republicans\u2019 views about the accuracy of elections shifted. Eight-in-ten Democrats said this was likely, compared with about half of Republicans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the same period, the partisan gap in views of whether all citizens who want to vote in the election will be able to has narrowed. This is almost entirely due to a change in views among Democrats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In April 2020, 43% of Democrats had confidence this would be the case. Today, 71% say this. Among Republicans, roughly eight-in-ten or more have continued to say they are confident that all citizens who want to vote will be able to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"intraparty-divides-in-views-of-election-fairness\">Intraparty divides in views of election fairness<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Among Democrats<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A majority of Democrats \u2013 regardless of their age, race or ethnicity \u2013 say they have at least some confidence that the election will be conducted fairly and accurately.
