Close to half of the public (48%) considers the Republican Party as friendly toward religion, while just 29% say the same about the Democratic Party. The Democrats\u2019 rating is down from 2008 when 38% of Americans saw them as friendly to religion.Opinions about the Democratic Party\u2019s friendliness toward religion are lowest among groups already inclined to dislike the party\u2019s politics \u2014 such as Republicans and white evangelical Protestants \u2014 but views of the Democrats\u2019 friendliness toward religion have declined among nearly all major religious groups.
