Nearly six-in-ten adults say that religion is \u201cvery important\u201d in their lives. But how much do Americans know about religion? On a quiz of religious knowledge, on average, Americans correctly answer 16 of 32 questions correctly. Large numbers of Americans are uninformed about the tenets, practices, history and leading figures of major faith traditions \u2014 including their own. Atheists and agnostics, Jews and Mormons are among the highest-scoring groups, outperforming evangelical Protestants, mainline Protestants and Catholics. <a
