On Monday, Democratic senators <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/senators-urge-trump-seek-authority-congress-tiktok-sale-extension-2025-03-24\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">urged an additional extension<\/a> to October. Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance is reportedly facilitating possible deals that would\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/03\/21\/business\/existing-us-based-bytedance-investors-want-to-buy-into-trump-backed-oracle-deal-to-spin-off-tiktok-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">buy out Chinese investors in the app<\/a>, where a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2024\/09\/17\/more-americans-regularly-get-news-on-tiktok-especially-young-adults\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">growing share of Americans get news<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Public support for a TikTok ban now stands at 34% among U.S. adults,<\/strong> down from 50% in March 2023, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2025\/03\/25\/fewer-americans-now-support-tiktok-ban-see-the-platform-as-a-national-security-threat-than-in-spring-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a new Pew Research Center survey<\/a>. A similar share of Americans (32%) oppose a ban, while another 33% say they are not sure.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The share of Americans who perceive TikTok as a national security threat has also dipped \u2013 from 59% in May 2023 to 49% now.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udcca\u00a0<strong>Chart of the week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our chart this week looks at partisans\u2019 trust in NPR and PBS. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2025\/03\/26\/americans-more-likely-to-support-than-oppose-continuing-federal-funding-for-npr-and-pbs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new Center survey<\/a>, <strong>Democrats are more likely than Republicans to trust NPR and PBS as sources of news.<\/strong> Nearly half of Democrats (47%) say they trust NPR as a source of news, compared with 12% of Republicans. The same pattern applies to PBS, with 59% of Democrats and 23% of Republicans trusting the outlet.
