The lawsuit claims that Fox News is trying to suppress its fellow right-leaning competitors, including Newsmax, through \u201cintimidation tactics\u201d and restrictive agreements with distributors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A March <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/feature\/news-media-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pew Research Center survey<\/a> found that <strong>57% of Republicans <\/strong>and Republican-leaning independents regularly get news from <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/feature\/news-media-tracker\/fox_news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News<\/a> \u2013 the largest share out of any of the 30 news sources studied in the survey. By comparison, <strong>15% of Republicans <\/strong>regularly get news from <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/feature\/news-media-tracker\/newsmax\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newsmax<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udea8 <strong>New from Pew Research Center<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Americans who generally trust national news organizations are more likely than those who distrust them to say they trust most of 30 specific news sources we asked about in a recent survey. Paramount had previously <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-media-harris-minutes-paramount-6415042fe910ae60b432dd8c73ef61b2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">settled a lawsuit<\/a> with President Donald Trump for $16 million over the editing of a Kamala Harris interview on 60 Minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to the merger, there was a <strong>large partisan gap among Americans who trust CBS News as a source of news and information,<\/strong> according to a March 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/feature\/news-media-tracker\/cbs_news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pew Research Center survey<\/a>. Over half of Democrats (56%) say they trust CBS News, compared with 23% of Republicans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udcca\u00a0<strong>Chart of the week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our chart this week comes from a <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2025\/09\/02\/many-americans-who-generally-distrust-national-news-organizations-still-express-trust-in-certain-outlets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recent Center analysis<\/a> of how broad trust \u2013 or a lack thereof \u2013 in information from national news organizations is linked with trust in 30 specific news sources. In general, Republicans are much less likely than Democrats to trust the information they get from national news organizations.
