Thoughts?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think there is hope for SMS health alerts targeting people under the age of 65 (and particularly those under 50). Look at the potential market:<\/p>\n\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"Phone demographics\" src=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/internet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/media\/Infographics\/Trend%20Data\/Sept%202012\/phone%20demos.jpg\" width=\"475\" height=\"729\"><\/figure>\n\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"Figure 4\" src=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/internet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/media\/Infographics\/Report%20Infographics\/2012\/49%20-%20cell%20activities\/04%20texting.jpg\" width=\"464\" height=\"670\"><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, just 9% of cell phone owners say they receive any text updates or alerts about health or medical issues. (See:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/internet\/Commentary\/2012\/February\/Pew-Internet-Mobile.aspx\">Pew Internet: Mobile<\/a>;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/internet\/Reports\/2012\/Mobile-Health.aspx\">Mobile Health 2012<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more evidence, I recommend following the work being done at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.connected-health.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Center for Connected Health<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/text4baby.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Text4Baby<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140-6736(11)60701-0\/abstract\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">txt2stop<\/a>. I&#8217;m also interested in the SMS emergency alert systems\u00a0set up by local, state, and federal governments &#8212; maybe they&#8217;ll prove the market for health alerts.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What other evidence would you recommend, either pro or con? Have there been failed attempts at SMS health reminders? Successes I didn&#8217;t name?
