Those under 50, and especially those 18-29, are the most likely to use Twitter. Urban-dwellers are significantly more likely than both suburban and rural residents to be on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8365\" alt=\"Twitter user demographics\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.pewresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2014\/01\/03-Twitter.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"734\"><\/figure>\n\n<h4 id=\"pinterest-users\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pinterest users<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pinterest, the online pinboard, has attracted 15% of internet users to its virtual scrapbooking.\u00a0 Whites, young people, the well-educated, those with higher income, and women are particularly likely to use the site.\u00a0 Pinterest is equally popular among those 18-29 and 30-49 (19%).\u00a0 Women are about five times as likely to be on the site as men, the largest difference in gender of any site featured in this report.<\/p>\n\n<figure><img data-dominant-color=\"e6e2db\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #e6e2db;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8366 not-transparent\" alt=\"Pinterest user demographics\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.pewresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2014\/01\/04-Pinterest.jpg\" width=\"453\" height=\"761\"><\/figure>\n\n<h4 id=\"instagram-users\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instagram users<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thirteen percent of internet users are taking and sharing pictures with Instagram.\u00a0 Women are more likely than men to use the site, as are those under 50.\u00a0 African-Americans and Hispanics are more likely than whites to use Instagram, along with urban residents.<\/p>\n\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8367\" alt=\"Instagram user demographics\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.pewresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2014\/01\/Instagram.jpg\" width=\"446\" height=\"739\"><\/figure>\n\n<h4 id=\"tumblr-users\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tumblr users<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tumblr is significantly less popular among internet users than the other social networking sites featured in this report.\u00a0 Just 6% of those online use the site.\u00a0 It is much more popular, however, among the youngest cohort \u2014 13% of those 18-29 are blogging on Tumblr.<\/p>\n\n<figure><img data-dominant-color=\"e8e4dc\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #e8e4dc;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8368 not-transparent\" alt=\"Tumblr user demographics\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.pewresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2014\/01\/Tumblr.jpg\" width=\"461\" height=\"739\"><\/figure>\n\n<h4 id=\"facebook-users\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Facebook users<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Facebook remains the most-used social networking platform, as two-thirds of online adults say that they are Facebook users.\u00a0 Women are more likely than men to be Facebook users, and Facebook use is especially common among younger adults.<\/p>\n\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8369\" alt=\"Facebook user demographics\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.pewresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2014\/01\/07-Facebook.jpg\" width=\"436\" height=\"661\"><\/figure>\n\n<h4 id=\"about-the-pew-research-centers-internet-american-life-project\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Pew Research Center\u2019s Internet &amp; American Life Project<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">is one of seven projects that make up the <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/\">Pew Research Center<\/a>, a nonpartisan, nonprofit \u201cfact tank\u201d that provides information on the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world.
