The \u201cMexican Flu: Anxiety Increases In the World\u201d read the headline of the April 30 report. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le Figaro was not alone in its use of what some saw as inflammatory language to describe the virus. The Toronto Star and other countries not included in the study also attached the term \u201cMexican\u201d to the flu\u2019s name in at least some their coverage. According to a report in Science Magazine outlining the evolution of the virus\u2019s name, (<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sciencemag.org\/scienceinsider\/2009\/05\/swine-flu-names.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/blogs.sciencemag.org\/scienceinsider\/2009\/05\/swine-flu-names.html<\/a>)\u00a0 the Netherlands government went so far as to make the term \u201cMexican flu\u201d Official.\u00a0 A lawmaker in Israel also drew brief media attention when he suggested the term \u201cswine\u201d not be used for religious reasons and be replaced with \u201cMexican.\u201d
