Most say the economy is in only fair (42%) or poor (47%) shape, with only a small minority (11%) offering a positive rating.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the economic outlook of Americans has improved slightly over the past month.\u00a0 Currently, 34% say they expect the economy to be in better shape a year from now, up from a 3-year low of 28% last <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/politics\/2012\/01\/19\/obama-begins-year-four-with-weak-job-ratings-but-positive-personal-image\/1-19-12-22\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-20037728\"><img data-dominant-color=\"ecedee\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #ecedee;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"295\" height=\"204\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" class=\"wp-image-68749 not-transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2012\/01\/1-19-12-22.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2012\/01\/1-19-12-22.png 295w, https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2012\/01\/1-19-12-22.png?resize=200,138 200w, https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2012\/01\/1-19-12-22.png?resize=260,180 260w, https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2012\/01\/1-19-12-22.png?resize=160,111 160w\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">month.\u00a0 This improved outlook comes predominantly from Democrats, 51% of whom say they think the economy will pick up over the next year.
