One-in-ten (10%) say they support both, while 14% say they oppose both.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Partisanship plays a strong role in attitudes about the two movements. About six-in-ten Republicans (63%) say they support the Tea <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/politics\/2011\/10\/24\/public-divided-over-occupy-wall-street-movement\/10-24-11-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-20035498\"><img data-dominant-color=\"eeeff0\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #eeeff0;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"294\" height=\"301\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2011\/10\/10-24-11-2.png?resize=294,301 294w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 480px, (max-width: 782px) 782px, 640px\" class=\"wp-image-68572 not-transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2011\/10\/10-24-11-2.png\" alt=\"\" ><\/a><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Party. That jumps to 77% among Republicans who describe themselves as conservative. Just 13% of Democrats support the Tea Party movement, while 64% are opposed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About half of Democrats (52%) \u2013 and 62% of liberal Democrats \u2013 say they support the Occupy Wall Street movement. Among Republicans, 19% say they support the anti-Wall Street protests, while more than half (55%) oppose them.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Independents have mixed opinions of the Occupy Wall Street movement: 43% support the movement and 35% are opposed. By contrast, the balance of opinion among independents toward the Tea Party is much more negative: Just 30% support the Tea Party movement while 49% are opposed.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/politics\/2011\/10\/24\/public-divided-over-occupy-wall-street-movement\/10-24-11-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-20035499\"><img data-dominant-color=\"ecedee\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #ecedee;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"294\" height=\"264\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2011\/10\/10-24-11-3.png?resize=294,264 294w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 480px, (max-width: 782px) 782px, 640px\" class=\"wp-image-68574 not-transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2011\/10\/10-24-11-3.png\" alt=\"\" ><\/a><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those following news about the Occupy Wall Street protests closely also tend to be more supportive than those following less closely. Six-in-ten (60%) among those who followed news about the protests very closely last week say they support the movement; 31% say they oppose it.
