Pew Research Center is a not-for-profit research organization. Most of our funding comes from The Pew Charitable Trusts\u00a0\u2013\u00a0a nonprofit, nonpartisan charitable organization headquartered in Philadelphia. We also receive support from other philanthropists and institutions that share our commitment to high-quality, fact-based research.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We operate independently from\u202fall of\u202four\u202ffunders.\u202fOur leadership and staff decide what we study.<\/strong>\u202fWe choose\u202fthe topics, design\u202fthe research, gather\u202fthe results and publish\u202fthe data. No funder or outside group influences our work.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This funding model lets us study people\u2019s views and behaviors without an agenda. It gives us the resources to apply our skills where they matter most, listen to all people and views and hire top experts to lead our work.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since we are funded from charitable dollars, our research is a public good, and we make it available free of charge to anyone interested.\u202fPeople use it to form their own opinions and make informed decisions. We do not propose solutions, take policy positions, or do consulting or contract work. We are not funded by any government entity or political party. Pew Research Center is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As documented in our\u202fIRS Form 990<\/a>, our activities are\u00a0largely funded\u00a0through grants from The Pew Charitable Trusts. Pew is\u00a0a public charity that\u00a0addresses the challenges of a changing world by illuminating issues, creating common\u00a0ground\u00a0and advancing ambitious strategies that lead to tangible progress.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
