The team contributes to the Center\u2019s reputation for experimentation and tells interesting stories about the behaviors and life experiences of the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As modern life has become increasingly digitized, researchers now have access to many new types of data for understanding broader social trends. Data Labs uses these sources to study topics like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How influential voices on social media are shaping the information landscape for topics like <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/2024\/11\/18\/americas-news-influencers\/\">news<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/data-labs\/2026\/05\/07\/moms-coaches-doctors-entrepreneurs-who-are-americas-health-and-wellness-influencers\/\">health and wellness<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/internet\/2024\/02\/22\/how-u-s-adults-use-tiktok\/\">posts on social media<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/data-labs\/2024\/10\/08\/who-u-s-adults-follow-on-tiktok\/\">types of accounts U.S. adults follow<\/a> there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How tools like <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2025\/07\/22\/google-users-are-less-likely-to-click-on-links-when-an-ai-summary-appears-in-the-results\/\">AI search summaries<\/a> are changing people\u2019s online behaviors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How the country\u2019s geography is changing in response to trends like <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2024\/02\/29\/most-americans-now-live-in-a-legal-marijuana-state-and-most-have-at-least-one-dispensary-in-their-county\/\">marijuana legalization<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2026\/04\/13\/most-new-data-centers-in-the-us-are-coming-to-rural-areas\/\">data center boom<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/data-labs\/2026\/03\/26\/religious-radio-across-america\/\">different institutions<\/a> are using mass media to <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2026\/06\/01\/federal-agency-x-accounts-are-getting-far-more-engagement-in-the-second-trump-term-than-under-biden\/\">spread their messages<\/a> to the public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We often link our findings with the Center\u2019s survey data.
