Google announced that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/google-explores-ai-tools-journalists-talks-with-publishers-spokesperson-2023-07-20\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exploring an AI tool<\/a> that would assist journalists in writing articles and has begun marketing the tools to various media outlets including The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Outlets have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/04\/13\/insiders-newsroom-will-start-experimenting-with-ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">already started experimenting with AI<\/a> in article writing and production \u2013 and have been subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/opinion\/msnbc-opinion\/ai-articles-disinformation-future-g-o-media-rcna95944\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">met with criticism<\/a>. Meanwhile, other newsrooms and media organizations have taken action to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/06\/06\/news-organizations-ai-disinformation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">try to control<\/a> how AI models use their content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"chart-of-the-week\">\ud83d\udcca&nbsp;<strong>Chart of the week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Multiple stories this week address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, and our chart looks at <strong>how U.S. journalists feel about their outlet&#8217;s approach to diversity and inclusion.<\/strong> While many journalists say issues of diversity and inclusion are a priority at their organization, roughly a third (32%) say their organization has enough racial and ethnic diversity.
