The situation comes after&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2024\/01\/28\/new-york-times-daily-podcast-camera\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports of internal controversy at the Times<\/a>&nbsp;related to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.semafor.com\/article\/03\/03\/2024\/how-the-times-stumbled-on-a-sensitive-israel-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reporting in a Times article<\/a>&nbsp;about sexual violence by Hamas fighters against Israelis on Oct. 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/2022\/06\/14\/journalists-express-high-job-satisfaction-but-are-concerned-about-the-state-of-the-news-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022 Pew Research Center survey<\/a>,&nbsp;<strong>8% of U.S. journalists said they had experienced threats or harassment from someone inside their organization<\/strong>&nbsp;in the past year. This comes as many social media platforms,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/03\/01\/facebook-is-getting-rid-of-the-news-tab-in-the-us-and-australia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">including Facebook<\/a>, have pulled away from news in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/fact-sheet\/social-media-and-news-fact-sheet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023 Center survey<\/a>\u00a0shows that\u00a0<strong>5% of Americans regularly get news from LinkedIn<\/strong>.
