Trump recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/11\/14\/trump-univision-biden-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hosted the company\u2019s new executives at Mar-a-Lago<\/a> and granted Univision <a href=\"https:\/\/www.univision.com\/univision-news\/politics\/donald-trump-exclusive-univision-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an hourlong exclusive interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The average <strong>number of TVs tuned in to Univision declined <\/strong>in 2022 across all three time slots for national news, according to our <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/fact-sheet\/hispanic-and-black-news-media\/#audience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">latest analysis of Comscore data<\/a>. There was an 11% decline for the evening news time slot, from an average of about 804,000 TVs in 2021 to roughly 714,000 last year. There was also a 16% decline in the late-night news slot, and a 7% decline in the morning news slot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"new-from-pew-research\">\ud83d\udea8 <strong>New from Pew Research Center<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This week, we released two fact sheets examining the shares of Americans who get <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/fact-sheet\/news-platform-fact-sheet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news from various platforms<\/a> as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/fact-sheet\/social-media-and-news-fact-sheet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">specific social media sites<\/a>. We also used this new data to update our analysis of how many Americans <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2023\/11\/15\/more-americans-are-getting-news-on-tiktok-bucking-the-trend-seen-on-most-other-social-media-sites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">get news on TikTok<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nearly six-in-ten Americans say they <strong>prefer to get news from a digital device<\/strong> (58%), higher than the share who say they prefer TV (27%). Even fewer Americans prefer radio (6%) or print (5%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Facebook outpaces other social media sites<\/strong> in the share of Americans who regularly get news there, although YouTube is close behind. Three-in-ten U.S. adults say they regularly get news on Facebook, while 26% say the same about YouTube.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>But <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2023\/11\/15\/more-americans-are-getting-news-on-tiktok-bucking-the-trend-seen-on-most-other-social-media-sites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the share of Americans who regularly get news on TikTok<\/a> has<strong> surged<\/strong> <strong>from 3% in 2020 to 14% in 2023<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also released two fact sheets last week looking at data on audience and economics for the <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/fact-sheet\/newspapers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">newspaper industry<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/fact-sheet\/digital-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital news<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In 2022, estimated total <strong>U.S. daily newspaper circulation<\/strong> (print and digital combined) was 20.9 million for both weekday and Sunday, <strong>down 8% and 10% respectively from 2021<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>average number of unique <strong>monthly <\/strong>visitors to the top digital news websites has fallen<\/strong> from 32.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2020 to 27.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2022. Adults are much more likely than teens to&nbsp;<strong>favor parental consent for minors to use social media&nbsp;<\/strong>(81% vs. 46%), and to support&nbsp;social media companies <strong>setting limits on how much time minors can spend on their sites<\/strong>&nbsp;(69% vs. 34%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"chart-of-the-week\">\ud83d\udcca&nbsp;<strong>Chart of the week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our chart of the week comes from our updated analysis of <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2023\/11\/15\/more-americans-are-getting-news-on-tiktok-bucking-the-trend-seen-on-most-other-social-media-sites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">how many Americans get news from TikTok<\/a>. Users of TikTok<strong> <\/strong>are now<strong> just as likely to get news from TikTok as Facebook users are to get news from Facebook<\/strong>: 43% of each site\u2019s users say they regularly get news there.
