Discovery, particularly given President Donald\u00a0Trump\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2026\/feb\/28\/trump-paramount-skydance-warner-bros-cnn-netflix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">criticisms of the cable news outlet<\/a>.\u00a0Paramount CEO David Ellison\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/david-ellison-cnn-editorial-independence-maintained-1236522518\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said Thursday<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0\u201ceditorial independence will absolutely be maintained\u201d\u00a0at CNN.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>The vast majority of Americans have heard of CNN, and a third of Americans say they regularly get news there,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/feature\/news-media-tracker\/cnn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to a 2025 Center survey<\/a>.\u00a0This is similar to the share who regularly get news from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/feature\/news-media-tracker\/cbs_news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBS News<\/a>\u00a0(30%), which is already owned by Paramount Skydance.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Democrats are much more likely than Republicans to get news from and trust both CNN and CBS News. As some news organizations continue to struggle with disruptions to their business model, we asked U.S. adults what they think should be the main way news organizations should make money. The largest share (45%)\u00a0point\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>ads or sponsorships,<\/strong>\u00a0while about one-in-ten each say\u00a0<strong>subscriptions\u00a0<\/strong>(11%) or\u00a0<strong>government funding\u00a0<\/strong>(10%).
