But a spokesperson for <strong>the Department of Homeland Security<\/strong> <strong>said the incident was not politically motivated<\/strong> and that Piker was released after a routine inspection.\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div width=\"100%\" class=\"ng-block-15e8bd6e890f056e wp-block-newsletterglue-text ng-block\" style=\"color:#2a2a2a\"><div><div><div class=\"ng-block-td\" align=\"none\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-family:Georgia;line-height:1.6;font-weight:normal;padding-top:8px;padding-bottom:10px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;text-align:none;color:#2a2a2a\"><p>We recently asked the 21% of U.S. adults who say they regularly get news from news influencers on social media to name the first such influencer who comes to mind. Piker, and his handle HasanAbi, was among <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2025\/02\/19\/no-consensus-on-who-comes-to-mind-when-americans-are-asked-to-name-a-news-influencer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the most common answers<\/a>. This was part of our broader <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/2024\/11\/18\/americas-news-influencers\/#news-influencers-are-mostly-men-more-explicitly-identify-as-right-leaning-than-left-leaning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">study of news influencers<\/a>, which found that on the whole, there are fewer news influencers like Piker who explicitly identify with the political left
