order<\/a>&nbsp;making major cuts to several federal agencies, including the Agency for Global Media \u2013 which funds<strong>&nbsp;Voice of America, Radio Free Europe\/Radio Liberty and Radio Free Asia.<\/strong>&nbsp;These news outlets, with roots in the fight against fascism and communism during the 20th century, broadcast around the world in dozens of languages.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div width=\"100%\" class=\"ng-block-c1fbeb61ac62bf2b wp-block-newsletterglue-text ng-block\" style=\"color:#2a2a2a\"><div><div><div class=\"ng-block-td\" align=\"none\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-family:Georgia;line-height:1.6;font-weight:normal;padding-top:8px;padding-bottom:10px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;text-align:none;color:#2a2a2a\"><p>Some lawmakers and activists have warned that the dismantling of these U.S.-government-funded outlets is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/trumps-cuts-us-news-outlets-criticized-ceding-ground-china-adversaries-2025-03-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">particularly dangerous<\/a>&nbsp;at a time when China is seeking to expand its global influence. A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2022\/06\/23\/prevailing-view-among-americans-is-that-u-s-influence-in-the-world-is-weakening-and-chinas-is-growing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pew Research Center survey from 2022<\/a>&nbsp;shows how Americans are thinking about this shift in influence. Nearly half of Americans (47%) say that&nbsp;<strong>the United States\u2019 influence in the world has been getting weaker in recent years<\/strong>, while 19% say it has been getting stronger. In contrast, about two-thirds of U.S. adults say that&nbsp;<strong>China\u2019s influence has been getting stronger<\/strong>&nbsp;in recent years.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div study<\/a> found that almost a quarter (24%) of these podcasts were primarily about true crime. In  a <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/2024\/10\/10\/americans-views-of-2024-election-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey conducted last September<\/a>, before the 2024 election, we found significant <strong>age differences within both major political parties in the sources people use for political news.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div width=\"100%\" class=\"ng-block-7deb05d2e85e74bb wp-block-newsletterglue-text ng-block\" style=\"color:#2a2a2a\"><div><div><div class=\"ng-block-td\" align=\"none\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-family:Georgia;line-height:1.6;font-weight:normal;padding-top:8px;padding-bottom:10px;padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px;text-align:none;color:#2a2a2a\"><p>For example, about six-in-ten Republican adults under 30 (58%) said they use Fox News as a major or minor source of political and election news, compared with almost eight-in-ten Republicans ages 65 and older (79%).
