for the past four decades,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2024\/12\/02\/most-americans-continue-to-say-media-scrutiny-keeps-politicians-from-doing-things-they-shouldnt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">most Americans say<\/a>&nbsp;<strong>criticism from news organizations keeps political leaders from doing things they shouldn\u2019t.&nbsp;<\/strong>But a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/2022\/06\/14\/journalists-and-the-public-differ-on-how-journalists-are-doing-how-connected-they-are\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022 Pew Research Center survey<\/a>&nbsp;found that journalists are much more likely than U.S. adults overall to say that news organizations do a good job serving as a watchdog over elected leaders (52% vs. 29%).&nbsp;<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div width=\"100%\" class=\"ng-block-0405dacd17bf695f wp-block-newsletterglue-text ng-block\"
