Another recently announced app, Rio, plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/04\/26\/curio-raises-funds-for-rio-an-ai-news-anchor-in-an-app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">use AI to aggregate news headlines<\/a> into a daily news briefing \u2013 but only with news articles that it has explicit consent to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2024\/03\/26\/many-americans-think-generative-ai-programs-should-credit-the-sources-they-rely-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pew Research Center survey<\/a>&nbsp;from earlier this year found that&nbsp;<strong>54% of Americans say AI programs<\/strong>&nbsp;that generate text and images&nbsp;<strong>need to credit sources<\/strong>&nbsp;they rely on to produce their responses, compared with just 14% who say the programs don\u2019t need to credit sources. About a third of Americans (32%) say they are not sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"new-from-pew-research\">\ud83d\udea8 <strong>New from Pew Research Center<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most Americans are wary of social media\u2019s role in politics and its overall impact on the country, and these concerns are ticking up among Democrats, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/internet\/2024\/04\/29\/americans-views-of-technology-companies-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new Pew Research Center survey<\/a>. Concern over Russian interference in EU elections is one of the key factors in the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the U.S., six-in-ten Americans said in 2020 that made-up news and information that was intended to mislead the public had a \u201cmajor impact\u201d on the <strong>presidential election that year<\/strong>, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/journalism\/2020\/12\/15\/concerns-about-made-up-election-news-are-high-and-both-parties-think-it-is-mostly-intended-to-hurt-their-side\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pew Research Center study<\/a>.
