Alan Murray is president of the Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to providing trusted facts that help inform the public about issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world. Using opinion polling, demographic research and other empirical tools, Pew Research tracks and highlights key trends that are shaping a fast-changing world.<\/p>\n\n
Murray is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Center, including developing strategies that expand research methodologies and engage the public and key decision makers with Center findings. He leads a staff of more than 130 researchers, communications and digital specialists, and operational personnel.<\/p>\n\n
Previously, Mr. Murray was at The Wall Street Journal, where he most recently served as Deputy Managing Editor and Executive Editor, Online. He spent a decade as the Journal\u2019s Washington Bureau Chief, during which the bureau won three Pulitzer Prizes; he subsequently served as CNBC\u2019s Washington Bureau Chief, co-hosting \u201cCapital Report with Alan Murray and Gloria Borger.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
He is the author of four books, including Showdown at Gucci Gulch<\/em>, coauthored with Jeffrey Birnbaum. He was a Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina, a Luce scholar, and holds a master\u2019s degree in economics from the London School of Economics.
