Ruiz is Pew Research Center\u2019s Head of New Research Initiatives. In this role, he is responsible for inspiring and advancing new opportunities for organizational growth and evolution. He works closely with the Center\u2019s president to conceptualize and drive new strategies that expand the Center\u2019s scope and capacity to do new research and serve broader audiences. He identifies projects that amplify the Center\u2019s mission and develops external collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neil is also the principal investigator of the Center\u2019s comprehensive study of Asian Americans, which received the 2023 Inclusive Voices Award from the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR). He has a background in applying demographic, qualitative, and survey research methods in the <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/short-reads\/2019\/02\/01\/4-paths-highly-educated-immigrants-take-to-study-and-work-in-the-u-s\/\">U.S.<\/a> and around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewglobal.org\/2019\/01\/22\/majority-of-u-s-public-supports-high-skilled-immigration\/\">the world<\/a>. He utilizes this mixed methods approach to studying <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/race-ethnicity\/collection\/being-asian-in-america\/\">Asian Americans<\/a>, other racial and ethnic groups, and immigrant populations. He is the founding chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/aapor.org\/affinity-groups\/aapi-research-and-affinitiy-group\/\">Asian American and Pacific Islander Research and Affinity Group<\/a> of AAPOR. He previously was an associate director for the race and ethnicity research and <a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/topic\/immigration-migration\/\">global migration and demography<\/a> research teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to joining the Center, Neil worked as a migration and economic development expert at the Brookings Institution, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. He was also the executive director of the Center for Law, Economics and Finance at George Washington University.
