She leads our National Survey of Black Americans, which engages on questions of Black\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/race-ethnicity\/2022\/04\/14\/race-is-central-to-identity-for-black-americans-and-affects-how-they-connect-with-each-other\/\">identity<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/race-ethnicity\/2022\/08\/30\/black-americans-have-a-clear-vision-for-reducing-racism-but-little-hope-it-will-happen\/\">politics<\/a>, and economic mobility. She is also co-author of the Center&#8217;s groundbreaking study,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alpha.pewresearch.org\/pewresearch-org\/religion\/2021\/02\/16\/faith-among-black-americans\/\">&#8220;Faith Among Black Americans&#8221;<\/a>. Prior to joining the Center in 2018, Kiana was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at SIU-Edwardsville where she taught courses on race, gender, Black history, social movements, statistics and research methodology.
